I was so excited about this cupcake book This is the most boring and disappointing cupcake book I own!!! The “brilliantly delicious dreamcakes” are a joke. Here is an example of what I’m talking about. There is a basic lemon cupcake recipe and a basic lemon frosting, and then there are cupcakes that use those. There is a Lemon-Basil cupcake Then there is a Lemon-Coconut cupcake Then there is a Lemon-Ginger cupcake I make one of my own that is killer The only thing that varies and makes the cupcake match it’s name is what is sprinkled on top.

In those recipes nothing changed with the basic recipes. Sometimes all that is different is how you decorate it!!! And what really scares me is that the lady that wrote this Big Book of Cupcakes actually owns a cupcake bakery!!! Holy cow!!! I’m more creative than she is when it comes to making cupcakes and creating flavors and I am so new to this.

I never baked ANY cake or cupcake from scratch until about 6 months ago. I started watching Cupcake Wars about a year ago and got excited about making cupcakes. I thought this book would actually have brilliantly delicious dreamcakes just like it claims. The other problem with this book is that it keeps sending you back to the page the basic cake and frosting recipe is on For that cupcake you go to page just to be sent to page 56 for the lemon cupcake recipe and then to page 57 for the lemon frosting.

So you are all over the place in the book just to make 1 cupcake. I will be putting this book up for sale because it’s not worth the money or keeping in my kitchen. If you are looking for a few basic recipes and some decorating ideas and don’t mind having to flip to a few different pages in the book to make the cupcake, then this book is for you See all reviews.
